"What We Believe
We believe that God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
God made the world and everything in it. He gives life, breath, and everything else to all people. His purpose is that we will look for Him and reach out and find Him, though He is not far from any of us. But He is not like anything that humans have thought up or made, and has said that everyone everywhere must turn back to Him. For He has set a day when he will judge the world's people with fairness, and Jesus will be this judge. God has given proof of this to all of us by raising Jesus from death. (from Acts 17:24-31)
What does this mean for us? Jesus said, ‘I have come in order that you might have life---life in all its fullness.’ (John 10:10)
We are to care for each other in love. ‘Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples.’ (John 13:35)
‘Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others’ (1 Peter4:10)
At TGS Cairns, we are:
‘ordinary people following an extraordinary God!’"

I’m the Senior Minister at TGS (The Good Shepherd) and am married to Sue. We have 3 sons, Troy, Glenn and Scott. I was born in 1959 at Sutherland Hospital, Sydney, NSW. I’m one of those ‘Shire’ people! It wasn’t until the age of 29 that Sue and I together turned to the LORD, seeking his forgiveness and guidance for our lives. The LORD then quickly took us to Ulladulla on the south coast of NSW to be well discipled, before going to Moore Theological College in 1994. We then spent three years at Sans Souci Anglican Church (Assistant Minister), six months at Padstow Anglican Church (Locum) and have been at TGS Cairns since 2000.
The LORD has changed me in countless ways, but two things haven’t changed in my life. Firstly, I was a ‘revhead’ before becoming a Christian, and still am. Secondly, Cronulla (the Sharkies) didn’t win a premiership in my B.C. days and they still haven’t!
Three things I love doing are: spending my day off relaxing with Sue; having special time with our sons, including a new member to our family – our daughter-in-law Natalie and telling others about Jesus. |
